Daventry Economy and Business Support
Excellent road and rail connections to the rest of the country and Daventry’s central location have attracted a diverse range of new and expanding companies, which are able to take advantage of the infra-structure and attractive range of quality sites, premises and conference facilities on offer. The M1, M6, M40 and A5 are a short drive away and provide easy access to London and the south as well as the midlands and the north of the country. With the A14 linking to the east coast ports and Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT) directly to Europe the connections don’t get much better!
Location, transport links, lifestyle choices and Daventry’s growing reputation for an innovative and green development approach are driving its expansion. The towns desire to be at the forefront of green technology is reflected by the new ‘Innovation Centre for Sustainable Construction’. A centre of excellence where university knowledge and business experience combine to generate new ideas, products and systems that can then be rolled out across the construction industry and put Daventry firmly on the map.
A mixture of industries, Business Improvement District and high number of independent businesses are ensuring Daventry prospers in a difficult economic climate. A balanced economy, low unemployment, excellent skill base and a high street experiencing a void rate of less than 8% (well below the national average) continue to attract new businesses to the area.
The town is growing fast currently with a population of 23,000 it is expected to grow to 40,000 by 2025, this is driving forward the development of the town centre, with increased retail space and public facilities, providing real opportunities for business.
